Topic: Best photo-editing software

What is the best photo-editing software? I use adobe photo-shop CS-2. But i heard that recent release of adobe photo-shop has more improvement has many new features. And also one of friend told me that adobe light-room also a very good software for photo-editing. Please tell me which one is better?
